Terms of Service

1. Acceptance

By creating a society on HouseFederation or using the console, the member app or the gate register, you agree to these Terms of Service.

If you are signing up for a society, federation, apex body or managing agent, you confirm that you are authorised to bind that body to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.

These terms apply to everyone who reaches the platform through your society's account — committee members, staff, guards and residents.

2. Your account

Signing up creates a society with its own address on housefederation.com. You are responsible for:

• Keeping sign-in credentials secure and never sharing one-time passwords
• Everything done under your account, including by anyone you grant a role to
• Giving accurate society information at setup
• Telling us at once if you suspect unauthorised access

We authenticate by one-time password to your mobile or email, or through Google. We will never ask you for a password or an OTP by email, phone or message. If someone claiming to be from HouseFederation asks for one, it is not us.

3. What we provide

HouseFederation is management software for housing societies and federations. Our commitments:

• Isolation — your data lives in a database schema reserved for your society
• Updates — we improve the platform continuously and deploy updates for you
• Support — by email, at the address at the end of these terms

We may modify, suspend or discontinue a feature with reasonable notice. If we discontinue something your committee depends on, we will give notice and help you move.

We do not commit to a specific uptime percentage in these terms. If your society needs a written service level, contact us and we will agree one separately.

4. Acceptable use

The platform is for running a housing society. You agree not to:

• Use it for anything illegal, or to store illegal content
• Try to reach another society's data, or to break out of your schema
• Reverse-engineer, decompile or extract our source code
• Send spam, phishing or unsolicited bulk messages to residents or anyone else
• Overload the infrastructure with automated scripts, bots or denial-of-service traffic
• Resell access without our written permission
• Upload malware or anything designed to harm our systems or other users
• Use member contact details for any purpose other than running the society

We may suspend an account that breaches these terms. For a serious breach we may terminate immediately. For anything minor we will contact you and give you a chance to put it right.

5. Your data

To be unambiguous about ownership:

• Your society's data is yours. Member records, bills, payments, complaints, minutes, documents — we claim no ownership over any of it
• You can export it at any time in standard formats. We will never hold it hostage
• You grant us a limited licence to host, process and display it solely in order to provide the service. That licence ends when you delete the data or close the society
• You are responsible for having the right to upload what you upload, and for recording resident information lawfully

6. Billing and payment

Platform fees

• Pricing is per unit per month, in Indian rupees: ₹15 up to 300 units, ₹12 from 301 to 1,000, ₹9 above 1,000. The plan follows your unit count at the start of the cycle
• The admin tools are free for the first year from the date your society is created
• All prices are exclusive of 18% GST. Platform invoices carry SAC 998314 with the CGST/SGST or IGST split by place of supply
• Billing is monthly in advance after the free year, on the unit count at the start of the cycle
• If a payment fails we will tell you and retry before restricting the account, and your data is preserved while you sort it out
• We may change prices with 30 days' notice. A change never affects a cycle already billed

7. Intellectual property

The platform — code, design, brand, documentation and the technology behind it — belongs to Nextyug Technologies Private Limited and is protected by intellectual property law.

Your subscription is a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the platform for your society's own purposes. It does not include the right to:

• Copy, modify or make derivative works of the software
• Sublicense or distribute the platform to anyone else
• Remove any copyright, trademark or proprietary notice

Anything you build on top of our API belongs to you. The platform underneath belongs to us.

8. Limitation of liability

We build this carefully, but no software is perfect. To the maximum extent Indian law permits:

• The platform is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind
• We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential or punitive damages
• Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim
• We are not liable for loss caused by your own actions, such as an accidental deletion or a misconfiguration, though we will do our best to help you recover

This is us being legally honest, not indifferent. In practice we help well beyond what we are obliged to.

9. Ending it

You can close your society at any time:

• Email [email protected] to ask for deletion
• You get a 30-day grace period to export everything
• After that the schema and all associated data are deleted permanently
• Any subscription already paid runs to the end of its period; see the Refund and Cancellation Policy

We may terminate if:

• You materially breach these terms and do not fix it within 14 days of our notice
• You use the platform for something illegal — immediately, without a notice period

When either side ends it, your licence to use the platform stops, but the ownership and export rights in section 5 survive.

10. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts at Pune, Maharashtra, India have exclusive jurisdiction.

Before anyone goes to court:

• Email [email protected] describing the problem
• We respond within 14 business days with a proposed resolution
• If email does not settle it, we try mediation with a mediator we both agree on
• Litigation is a last resort

For consumer disputes you keep every right the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 gives you.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do:

• Material changes — we email you at least 30 days before they take effect
• Minor changes — we update the date at the top of this page
• Continuing to use the platform after a change takes effect means you accept it
• If you disagree with a material change you can close your society before it takes effect
